I’d like to dedicate this post to my mom and dad.  If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be the person I am today.  Thank you.  I love you guys.

Wanderlust

Wanderlust is a strong desire for or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world.

Some call it a sickness, and I got it.  Bad.  Addicted.  While on the top of Machu Picchu I was planning the Pyramids of Egypt and at the Pyramids of Giza I was daydreaming about the Great Wall of China and the exotic beaches of Kenya.  It just never stops.  Satisfied, yet still curious.  I keep saying just one more trip, then I’ll be ready to settle down.  35 countries later I’m planning my next venture.

Aloha!  I’m Davida.   For those who don’t know me, I’m a Nor Cal gyal now living on the beautiful tropical island of Maui.   A globetrotting gypsy that lives for the sun and loves by the moon.  A young free spirit with an old wise soul.  Blessed and forever grateful for the abundance and comfort of the western world in which I live, but restless.  Always yearning for something new.  Traveling the world in search of the exotic unknown.  Inspired by ancient, natural, and man made world wonders, different cultures, music, art, fashion and history.

Not sure when n where I caught the bug.  I started traveling young, thanks to my mom taking me to summer schools in Mexico, emerging me into my Latina roots when I was in grade school.  Maybe she sparked the flame? Anyhow, 3 days after I graduated high school I left and started back packing Europe by myself.  An epic summer abroad lead me back to Spain the next summer, which soon lead me to Africa, South East Asia, back to Europe, onto the Caribbean, Central America, down to South America, back to Asia, back to South America, onto Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean, and lastly North Africa again, oh yea and then back to the Caribbean again (and a bunch of times in between).  It’s kind of an island ting I got ;).

Along my journeys I started collecting some amazing global treasures and eventually started Isle Empress,  a now wandering boutique featuring all the unique, handmade, one-of-a-kind, jewelry, fashion and art I hand select from around the world.   I started Isle Empress over 15 years ago and its been evolving over the years.  In 2009 I opened a store front in Paia, on the north shore of Maui.  After 2 years and 2 floods my lease was up, and I was ready to pack it up and go back to my gypsy ways.  So thanks to the cyber world I’ve now taken Isle Empress globally.  I try and focus on purchasing only handmade jewelry, textiles, and art, so I’ve chosen Etsy as a way to sell the products.   Merging travel and adventure with music, culture, food, fashion and all forms of art is my living dream, and I welcome you to be a part of it!!
